Whitewater Rafting

Often I like a change in pace, especially during the summer. This past weekend I was asked to join a group to go whitewater rafting up in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. There are several places to go whitewater rafting, but our group decided on Whitewater Rafting Adventures on the Lehigh River. Whitewater Rafting Adventures is a small family owned and operated outfit. Located right off of Route 93 it’s about 1 hour and half from Philadelphia.

The staff and guides were very friendly and helpful and the price includes a free hot dog cookout at the end of your day (still bring a lunch). I had a fantastic time and I came back in one piece.

If you decide to go keep in mind that the Whitewater Dam releases through the Lehigh River are scheduled for every other weekend beginning May 13th up to and including September 30th. There are three levels of rafting on the Lehigh River, so there is something for everyone.

They also offer biking, kayaking and paintball.

Visit their website to view a schedule of dam releases and other important information (i.e. reservation. What to bring….).
