SAVE the Philadelphia Libraries!

Below is a invite I recieved on Facebook that I would like to sure with the rest of you.

Please join us at National Mechanics on Saturday, December 20th @ 9pm -2am to celebrate libraries and librarians and help to keep open the 11 branches of the Free Library of Philadelphia that are slated to close due to Nutter's budget cuts. We'll be spinning all the music you love the best -- hip-hop, motown, new wave, rock, twee, you name it! Come by and dance, and stay to sign petitions and partake in the fundraising opportunities available to help keep these libraries open.

Admission is FREE!!

Gee’s Bend: The Architecture of the Quilt Ends Dec 14th

This Sunday is the last day to see Gee's Bend Exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

South Street Closed



Dec 9th at 9:30am the 85 year old South Street Bridge closed for demolition.
The reconstruction project will take two years and cost about $67 million.
Detours over the Walnut Street bridge and Chestnut Street Bridge at 30th Street. However the word is that the Chestnut Street Bridge is actually in worse shape the South Street Bridge.

Wharton Esherick Museum

A special mid week guided tour of the hand crafted home and studio of Wharton Esherick, the ''dean of American Craftsmen.'' Studio is filled with more than 200 examples of Esherick's paintings, prints, furniture, and furnishings.

President-elect Barack Obama in Philly today.

President-elect Barack Obama meets 48 governors inside Congress Hall this morning with a promise to to give them a role in creating a multi-billion dollar economic stimulus package that he wants to sign as his first order of business after inauguration next month.
